LOS ANGELES: The work of India Friends Association exceeds many expectations and exudes integrity. Listening to the members comments, watching video footage, looking through the brochure brought out on their 14th anniversary at the 2008 Archana Discovery of India event , one is aware of the monumental efforts of IFA in empowering the poor in India.

IFA plans unique fundraiser

On Saturday, April 26, at the Fred Kavil Theatre, Thou- sand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, India Friends Association will present its gala 14th Annual Fundraiser. As the Association goes from strength to strength there is a unique program planned with 100 children and adults.

Discover India through authentic dinner, dance, music, and more at Archana '08.

For immediate release: Thousand Oaks, CA, March 7, 2008 – Continuing with a 14 year tradition, IFA (India Friends Association) brings you Archana 08 - a highly entertaining cultural program that entices all of your senses. The evening begins with a magical, authentic dinner in the park then moves indoors for a lively, cultural extravaganza with beautiful music, colorful costumes, drama and dance numbers that make you want to jump up and dance. A multimedia experience builds consciousness and highlights IFA’s transformational work. 

The evening showcases India’s cultural richness and diversity through a volunteer cast of more than 100 local children and adults rehearsing since December of last year. Archana is a collective effort of literally hundreds of volunteers working collectively for a cause that transcends individual recognition. It is also about ordinary people working hard to create something that is beautiful and unique.

Archana 08 will be on Saturday, April 26 at the Fred Kavli Theater in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.  The evening will start with a reception at 5:00 pm, Dinner in the park 5:30 – 6:30 PM, Theater seating at 6:30 pm and the cultural program at 7:00 pm.  

TICKETS:  General: $40.00;  Student: $20;  Preferred: $75.00         
IFA is a local, nonprofit organization empowering people in India to fight corruption, improve governance, obtain employment and healthcare, protect the environment and more. IFA has provided funding during the past 14 years to over 25 carefully selected projects all over India. IFA raised over $125,000 in 2007 because of the success of its projects and the commitment and dedication of its volunteers.

Archana 08
is expected to attract 1500 people helping IFA take a major step towards its 2008 fund raising goal of $250,000.
