In year 2001, 17 children passed the Punjab Primary Board Examination (5th grade) and moved on to 6th grade in regular schools.

Scope

To provide basic education to poor children working in tea shops, dhabas, brick kilns, and factories

Educating the underprivaledged children is the key to the developement of India

Study centers are sponsored by Punjab istri Sabha Relief Trust based in Amritsar

2 study centers

19 children in Amritsar center and 20 children in Mohali center (near Chandigarh)

Children are paid Rs.100 per month as incentive

English, Mathematics, and Punjabi is taught

Duration of support: 10 years

Total support: $ 13300

IFA visits: Parminder visited Amritsar in February 2002; Privithi & Surekha Sharma visited Mohali center in November 2001 and Amritsar in October 2002.
