IFA Funding of Disasters
Disaster Relief - Recently, we have seen an unusual onslaught of natural disasters. Although disaster relief is not an IFA goal, being an humanitarian organization, it is only natural that we be involved in such relief. Typically, such support is provided by allocating some emergency funds that are added to whatever additional donations are sent to IFA for a specific disaster. This is how your funds were disbursed:
Asian Tsunami - $15,000
Organization: Rejuvenate India Movement (Tamil Nadu Chapter) Funds Used For: Short Term Shelters & Immediate Rehabilitation.
Jammu & Kashmir Earthquake - $10,000 ***Click above to see what has been done with your funds; updated March 2007*** Organization: People's Science Institute (Uttranchal) Funds Used For: Medium Term Shelters
Katrina Hurricane Relief - $6,000
Organization: AIDS Alliance for Children, Youth & Families Funds Used For: Food, medications, clothing etc. for HIV affected families in the area.
We have received some feedback from the various agencies and believe that these funds have made a significant contribution to relief and rehabilitation of the most vulnerable segments of society in these areas. Please click the Back button on your browser to return to the Projects List.
