Scope: Rural livelihood generation and organizing villagers towards local self-governance.

Background: Gujarat Government had launched a scheme of providing wasteland to landless farmers. Recent government attempts have been to backtrack on that promise. Gujarat Loksamiti under Chunnibhai Vaidya's leadership is ensuring that the scheme is fully implemented and successful.

One such location is Undavi village that IFA has "adopted" where 125 families have been awarded 2-3 acres each of wasteland.

IFA's funding will be used for:

- Clearing and surveying the land
- Training in sustainable agricultural techniques
- Training in how to access various govt. schemes
- Womens Self Help Groups

Years supported:  1

IFA Funding: $ 10,000

IFA Visits:  Surekha and Prithvi and Ashim Jain from Bangalore visited Chunnibhai in December of 2008 and were very impressed with the ongoing work.
